Clay Pigeon Shooting Disciplines - Down the Line
Published on: November 20, 2018
Down the line clay pigeon shooting is a very popular form of "Trap" shooting. The traditional DTL shooting layout is set up with 5 stands in a crescent shape 16 yards from a traphouse.
The traphouse throws clay pigeons from an oscillating trap between - and 22.5 degrees either side of a centerpost.
Each shooter shoots 5 targets from each stand within a layout before moving up one place.
The scoring of points is 3 points for first barrel kill, 2 points for a second barrel kill, 0 points for a lost target. A perfect score is therefore 100 targets each 'killed' with the first barrel, total 300 points.
